Here’s How Global Bond Managers Are Playing Higher Yields

Over the past week, trade negotiations between the U.S. and Canada broke down; U.K.-Russia tensions mounted after U.K. Prime Minister Andy Burnham reaffirmed his support for Ukraine; and the U.S. unveiled new sanctions on Iran in what President Donald Trump called an “Economic D-Day.” Recent fluctuations in long-duration bonds are shaking up the way global bond managers are thinking about capital allocations.

Why it could benefit going forward

  • SK Telecom combines telecom cash flows, AI infrastructure ambitions, and a disclosed Anthropic relationship.
  • If the Anthropic stake is more valuable than the market assumes, SKM could have hidden-asset upside.
  • Management also wants to monetize AI in telecom and data-center services.

Moat / edge

  • Scale in a key domestic telecom market.
  • Recurring cash generation from the core connectivity business.
  • Strategic partnerships can matter more when local distribution is valuable.

What to watch

  • Any clearer disclosure around Anthropic stake value or ownership.
  • AI data-center growth and AI-service monetization.
  • Stability of the core telecom business.

Key risks

  • Anthropic value may be smaller than speculative narratives suggest.
  • Core telecom performance can dominate the stock if execution slips.
